LASER HAIR REMOVAL

How It Works

Target Melanin: The target chromophore of a laser hair removal device is Melanin. When the laser emits a beam of light it is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair. This is why treatment is only effective on darker hairs, which have higher melanin content. Red, white, blonde or gray hairs are not treatable.

Heat Generation: As the melanin in the hair absorbs the light, it generates heat that travels down to the root of the hair and damages the follicle.

Kill The Follicle: The damaged hair follicle then loses its ability to regrow hair. If hair does return, it’s often finer in texture and lighter in color.

Repeat: Hair grows in different cycles, so multiple sessions are required to target all hair follicles in the active growth phase.

Save time and money trying to remove unwanted hair and odor causing bacteria that typically only result in razor bumps, nicks and missed areas. Shaving, plucking or waxing does not kill the root so the hair will simply grow back, time and time again.

Laser Hair Removal targets hair follicles and emits pulses of light that stop the growth of the hair directly at the root. Red, white, blonde and gray hairs are not treatable with laser hair removal.

The complete Laser Hair Removal process requires a series of 7 treatments, but results can start to be seen after the first treatment. Over the course of one to three weeks, the treated hair falls out. With every treatment, fewer and fewer hairs will grow back, leaving you with smooth skin.

At Breck Aesthetics & Wellness, we can treat ALL skin types and offer touch ups at half price, so you never have to worry about regrowth.

Expectations

Results: Results can vary based on individual hair growth cycles, but most clients notice a reduction in hair growth after the first few treatments. 10-20% of treatable hair is reduced per treatment on average.

Sessions Commonly Needed: The number of sessions can depend on various factors, including the treatment area, hair density, and hair growth cycle. On average, our clients achieve their desired results in 7 to 9 sessions spaced 6-8 weeks apart.

Follow-Up Treatments: Occasional touch-up sessions can help manage any new growth due to hormonal changes or natural hair cycle progression.

Potential Side Effects

Laser Hair Removal is a safe treatment. However, as with any medical treatment, there are potential side effects, which are typically minor and temporary. These may include:

Redness and Swelling: Comparable to mild sunburn, the most common side effect and usually subside within a few hours.

Discomfort: Any pain is usually mild and can be treated with over-the-counter pain relief or cold compresses.

Pigment Changes: The treated area may lighten or darken following treatment, though this is typically temporary, especially with proper sun protection.

Histamine Reaction: Symptoms may include:
  1. Itchiness (Urticaria)
  2. Red bumps on the treatment area (hives)
  3. Blisters (may or may not be present)

Frequently Asked Questions

What hair colors and skin types are treatable with laser hair removal?

At Breck Aesthetics & Wellness we use the newest in laser technology with the AVANTA TrioPro laser, meaning that we can safely and effectively treat ALL skin types.

Lasers target melanin in the hair so black and brown hair are treatable for hair removal. Red, white, gray and blonde hair do not contain melanin and therefore are not typically treatable with laser hair removal.

How is Laser Hair Removal different from home devices, Electrolysis and IPL?

Home devices are not near as powerful as professional aesthetic technology and therefore do not provide the same results. Home devices may or may not be safe for all skin types and could cause adverse reactions.

Laser Hair removal is much faster and more effective than IPL or Electrolysis, which targets only 1 hair at a time. We know that your time is valuable so providing safe, effective and efficient treatments is our main priority.

How does the AVANTA TrioPro laser differ from traditional laser hair removal devices?

The main concept behind the new advanced technology is that the energy delivered to the target area is cumulative. It involves heating up the skin in the entire treated area to the point where the hair follicles are destroyed. This process is done by using an “in-motion” technique, where the practitioner uses gliding motions with the laser applicator over the patients’ skin. So rather than lasing each hair follicle individually with a high-powered beam which is painful, the TrioPro uses lower energy with high repetition to achieve maximum results with little to no pain. Moreover, the “in-motion” technique ensures better and more uniform coverage and minimizes the risk of burns.
